How Full Smile Makeovers Create Great-Looking Smiles

If your smile isn’t the best it could be, it’s easy to feel self-conscious about your appearance. However, there’s a lot your dentist can do to improve how your smile looks, and help you feel more confident about showing it off. A full smile makeover is a series of procedures that transform your smile, boosting both your oral health and your self-esteem at the same time.

What Can a Full Smile Makeover do for You?

Even with a great oral care routine, you’re still at risk of oral health problems such as cavities and gum disease. Injuries to the face and jaw can cause tooth damage too. For a range of reasons, you may find yourself with a smile that you’re less than proud of—and you may decide you want to try and improve the appearance of your smile.

This is what a full smile makeover is for. A full smile makeover is a series of procedures tailored to your aesthetic needs, designed to address the specific problems you have with your smile. It’s not necessarily about improving your oral health, although that does tend to happen anyway, as many cosmetic procedures also improve the appearance of teeth.

Procedures Involved in a Full Smile Makeover

A full smile makeover can include a range of procedures, from fillings and crowns, to veneers, tooth whitening, and orthodontic work.

  • Composite resin restorations: composite resin is used to fill cavities. It’s a durable material that can be color-matched to your own tooth shade so that your restorations look completely natural.
  • Crowns: typically made from porcelain or ceramic, crowns cover the entire surface of a tooth to conceal aesthetic problems, improve the shape of a tooth, and make it stronger. Crowns can be color-matched to your natural tooth shade.
  • Tooth whitening: professional tooth whitening from your dentist is much more effective than over-the-counter whitening kits. In a session that takes less than an hour, your dentist can lighten your teeth by several shades—and the procedure is much more comfortable and safer than using an at-home kit.
  • Porcelain veneers: these are thin slices of porcelain that cover the front surface of teeth to conceal damage and discoloration. Veneers can improve the color, shape, and size of teeth to give you a Hollywood-perfect smile.
